ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ welcomes Robert Chao Romero, professor of Chicana/o & Central American Studies at UCLA, for the 2026 Perkins Lecture, Tuesday, April 21:

He will speak at Chapel, 11 a.m., First Free Methodist Church (adjacent to campus); and at 7 p.m. in the FFMC's Fine Center for the 20th annual Perkins Lecture, “Migration as Grace.”

The annual John Perkins Lecture invites the SPU community to explore the implications of reconciliation through Christian community development.

The series first began in 2006 with John Perkins’ address, “Reconciling Leadership in the Wake of Tragedy.” He returned to campus each year to deliver the Perkins Lecture until 2019. Since then, reconciliation advocates such as Brenda Salter McNeil and Jermar Tisby have delivered this important annual address.
