University Advancement

Our world needs people of professional competence and Christian character, serving in all sectors of society: health care, business, government, education, and more. Your gifts to SPU educate and equip students to serve now and in the future.

How donor gifts are making an impact

Scholarships help students reach their goals

Trinity, a Class of 2025 graduate with a degree in business administration-marketing, is the first in her family to attend college. “I’m making the path for future generations,” she said. Raised by a single mom, she’s deeply grateful for the support she’s received.

At SPU, Trinity has grown in faith and leadership. She serves as student president of the Falconettes, SPU’s 88-year-old service club, and takes part in Ekklesia, a student-led group that meets for Bible study at a local coffee shop. With minors in communication and data analytics, she interned with a growing café business and was invited to join as a marketing partner after graduation. Her dream is to open her own coffee shop and build community. Trinity knows her goals are attainable because of the financial help she received. “I am eternally grateful for the donors who’ve provided me scholarships,” she said. “Their scholarships do not go unnoticed or unappreciated.” .

Honoring the legacy of SPU’s Perkins Center

ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ hosted the John Perkins Center Legacy Dinner, welcoming reconciliation leaders and special guests — including Elizabeth and Priscilla Perkins, co-presidents of the John and Vera Mae Perkins Foundation of Jackson, Mississippi.

The evening celebrated the enduring impact of the JPC at SPU as Dr. Stephen Newby led worship featuring music from John Perkins’ early years. President Emeritus Philip Eaton reflected on the Center’s 2004 founding; President Deana Porterfield shared a vision for its future; Urban Impact Executive Director Steve Bury highlighted the Center’s leadership in Seattle; and SPU Trustee Harvey Drake closed the evening in prayer. Now renamed the John and Vera Mae Perkins Center, the Center will continue to connect campus and community through Christian reconciliation and leadership development.
