What is something you wish everyone knew about your major? I changed my major a few times during my years at SPU, but I'm overall very satisfied with my decision to settle with the BA in Life Sciences. This major gave me a lot of flexibility to work on my music and psychology minors, in addition to providing a good biology foundation. With the flexibility to be interdisciplinary, this major has also solidified my interest in music cognition.

What was your most impactful class or professor? My most impactful class was psychology of music. I did a research project in this class where I explored the potential of using music to promote welfare in captive animals. This project became the start of my Honors project, and I hope to continue this research post-graduation because there are still so many questions left unanswered.

What are you excited for in your future career? I am most excited about going to grad school and doing research in music cognition, as well as continuing to grow as a musician.

What advice do you have for incoming students? Some advice I have for incoming students is to take classes for fun, whether it be a music ensemble or something you genuinely enjoy. If you have space for it, it's worth adding a fun class to your schedule because it's like a break from the usual coursework. Plus, it gives you a chance to meet people from different majors!

How have you grown during your time at SPU? I've grown a lot during my time at SPU in different ways. I've grown as a student, a musician, and an individual. I definitely feel like I've become more independent and confident throughout my years as an SPU student.
