What is something you wish everyone knew about your major? History is such a broad discipline, and there's so much space to explore your interests through the context of the past. What we tend to call “doing history” looks quite different from what you might have experienced learning about history in high school.

What was your most impactful class or professor? There are so many fantastic professors at SPU who are willing to dedicate their time and energy in us as students and scholars, but Drs. Katie Kresser and Alissa Walter have been crucial to my experience at SPU. From independent studies to advice on study abroad and grad school, I'm incredibly grateful for all of their support.

What are you excited for in your future career? Career stills feels so far away, but I'm excited and nervous to start applying to grad programs this coming fall. I hope to keep learning and eventually pass this knowledge on to the next generations of academics.

What advice do you have for incoming students? Your experience at SPU is truly what you make of it, especially academically. Don't be afraid to make your program work for you and talk to your profs to set yourself up for what you want to do.

How have you grown during your time at SPU? My time at SPU has helped me grow in identifying and rediscovering my passions and interests. The students and faculty here aren't afraid to feel and to lean in, and it's hard not to feel this rub off.
