                | Peterson Hall, SPU's Second Oldest Building,
Celebrates Its 100th Birthday in December ON DECEMBER 18, 1905, a new Administration
Building was dedicated at Seattle Seminary, later to become
ºù«ÍÞÊÓƵ. The building held the library,
the chapel, the principal’s office, classrooms, and
a large assembly hall. In the 1940s, it was renamed Peterson
Hall in honor of Nils B. Peterson, who gave 5 acres of his
homestead to establish the school in the 1890s. Today Peterson Hall houses the Department of Family and Consumer
Sciences and the School of Education, and sits between the
University’s oldest and newest buildings: Alexander
Hall and the new Science Building, built in 2003. “Peterson
is a historical treasure of the University,” says Dean
of the School of Education William Rowley, whose office is
located on the building’s third floor. Back to the topBack to Home
